Washington urges disarmament as Israel warns of expansion
The article addresses the escalation of political and military tensions in Lebanon, focusing on Israel's threats to Lebanon, particularly the Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz's warning to evacuate the southern suburbs of Beirut and to expand the occupied territories if Hezbollah joins any Iranian attack against Israel. The sources link these threats to the possibility of launching a broad military operation against Iran before the Israeli elections on October 27, amid fears that Hezbollah's involvement in any potential confrontation could lead to a significant escalation. The article also points to an increase in Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon and movements of forces in the area, as part of persistent pressure tactics and messages of deterrence, amid ongoing regional tensions and fears of a full-scale conflict that could threaten regional security.
