Washington explores Mother of All Bombs for Iran
The United States is studying the use of the "Mother of All Bombs" against Iran. This is a massive conventional bomb with tremendous destructive power, roughly equivalent to 11 tons of TNT, and weighing about 9.8 tons. It was first tested in 2003 and was actually used in 2017 in Afghanistan to target ISIS tunnels. Unlike bunker-busting bombs, it relies on a wide shockwave rather than deep penetration, and is typically used against open areas or surface targets.
