Ali Kyali before court over Lebanon's Syria and Turkey border issue
Ali Kayali, who is wanted before the justice systems in Syria and Turkey on charges related to massacres and bombings that resulted in civilian deaths, was detained in Lebanon during a joint operation by Syrian and Turkish intelligence. His arrest raises questions about Lebanon’s compliance with extradition requests, especially since Damascus had previously requested his surrender. This represents an important step toward holding accountable those responsible for crimes committed against civilians in Syria and Turkey. The report confirms that the Lebanese judiciary is responsible for trying Kayali based on the evidence, and that merely noting the arrest is not enough; the case must be pursued legally to ensure justice for the victims.
