Bassil Confronts US Issue Amid Media Debate
Jibran Bassil's office, head of the Free Patriotic Movement, denied the reports claiming that he has a court ruling against him from a U.S. court in Florida. He confirmed that the lawsuit filed by Lara Mansour and Eli Samaha was dismissed due to the American courts' lack of jurisdiction over the dispute, as per a decision issued on March 27, 2023. He clarified that he has no connection to the judicial facts mentioned, noting that the Lebanese judiciary previously ruled in his favor and found in favor of his case against the plaintiffs. He emphasized that selectively presenting the facts does not change the legal truths and reaffirmed his right to take appropriate legal action against those who defame him.
