Qatari Plan to Solve Lebanon's Power Crisis
The Lebanese government has launched a Qatari project to address Lebanon's electricity crisis, which involves building a large-scale solar power generation plant. The project will be financed and implemented by Qatar at no initial cost to the Lebanese treasury. The goal is to increase electricity production and reduce costs, with expectations of providing financial, economic, and social stability, supported by Gulf and European countries. An overarching framework for cooperation has been agreed upon, along with the signing of an official agreement between Lebanon and Qatar. The plan includes operating the plant through a private company and supplying Qatari gas to run Lebanese gas plants. This project is seen as part of Qatar's ongoing support for Lebanon's unity and sovereignty, and it aligns with regional de-escalation efforts. There is also the possibility of Qatari officials meeting with Hezbollah to reduce political and security tensions, with Qatar reaffirming its support for the Lebanese army and national security.
