Yemen Attacks on Civilian Gatherings
The article discusses the targeting by the armed forces of the Arab Coalition and the Yemeni army of social and civilian events in Yemen, such as weddings and funerals, since the outbreak of the war in 2015. Sources documented 14 incidents resulting in hundreds of civilian casualties, especially women and children, including attacks on wedding tents, memorial gatherings, tribal meetings, and public facilities. These attacks have led to the death of more than 380 people and injuries to over 850. Notable violent incidents include the massacres at Al-Saleh Grand Mosque and wedding halls in several governorates. The repeated targeting of civilian gatherings raises questions about the commitment to protecting civilians during the conflict and underscores the urgent need to adhere to the principles of distinction between military and civilian targets.
