Shepherd regrets Kadoubin neglect
The Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Bechara Boutros Raï visited Mount Athos in Greece, where he met with the abbots and exchanged dialogue with them about ecumenical relations and cooperation among churches. He also learned about the history and spiritual heritage of the mountain, which dates back more than 1,100 years. Father Raï emphasized that Mount Athos continues to thrive with vitality and preserves its cultural heritage; however, he pointed out that Lebanon suffers from neglect and emigration, leading to the loss of resources and the undermining of a dignified life. He expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and brotherly spirit he experienced there, declaring his intention to strengthen spiritual cooperation among churches and inviting a visit to Lebanon. In Athens, he discussed with Greek bishops the situation of Christian communities and the phenomenon of migration, while reiterating his call for a visit to Lebanon and continuing coordination with the Greek Orthodox Church.
