Yemeni Speaker Urges Action on SisiReports
The Speaker of the Yemeni House of Representatives, Yahya Ali Al-Raeli, sent an urgent message to his Egyptian counterpart, Hisham Badawi, regarding reports of an emergency session of the Egyptian Parliament convened at the request of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to authorize him to take defensive measures in support of Saudi Arabia. Al-Raeli warned that Egypt’s engagement in any military movement against Yemen would pose a threat to its national security. He called on Cairo to focus on supporting a political solution, pointing out that Saudi Arabia has caused bloodshed and destruction of Yemeni infrastructure through aggression and the ongoing blockade, which has led to widespread famines. He emphasized that the stance of the Yemeni people demands an end to the aggression, the lifting of the blockade, and respect for Yemeni sovereignty. Al-Raeli rejected involving Egypt in a military confrontation with Yemen, reaffirming that Egypt should maintain its historical role in supporting Yemen’s unity and stability.
