France evaluates damage after unrest
The article explains that France is suffering widespread damage as a result of protests that were sparked over the high cost of living. These protests led to violence and looting in the streets six months before the presidential elections. The demonstrations have seen an increase in violence compared to the events of 2023 and the "Yellow Vest" protests, with hundreds of institutions and shops targeted. Buildings were set on fire, and security forces and civilians were seriously injured. Approximately 1,200 protesters were arrested. French President Emmanuel Macron has pledged to punish those involved in acts of vandalism, amid rising social tensions.
