Sweden uncovers 260M euro Russian laundering
Swedish authorities have uncovered an international Russian-speaking network suspected of money laundering totaling approximately 260 million euros. The operation involved suspicious financial transactions based on forged invoices and a wide network of connected companies, with participation from individuals in Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Latvia, and Georgia, all using the Russian language. It is believed that this phenomenon is expanding almost industrially, and the Swedish system is struggling to control it due to the ease of opening new accounts and companies, as well as reliance on a trust-based system rather than tighter oversight. The head of the financial intelligence center emphasized that combating these networks requires comprehensive international cooperation and proactive measures before the activities grow further.
