Opposition Names Matador as Leader
Venezuelan opposition, led by María Corina Machado, announced her appointment as the country's leader through a major national agreement, with the goal of achieving a democratic transition. This came about ten months after the U.S. military detained President Nicolás Maduro, and members of the "Unified Democratic Platform" agreed to support Machado's leadership, who is currently living in exile in Panama. The plan includes the release of political prisoners, the return of exiles, the end of political repression, and the conduct of general elections according to a clear roadmap. The document indicates that the opposition aims to achieve comprehensive political change that responds to the people's demands and upholds the principles of freedom and equality.
