Nasser Al-Din on private hospital standards
The Minister of Public Health, Rakan Nassereddine, focused on organizing collaboration with private university hospitals to provide advanced surgical procedures that are currently unavailable in public hospitals, such as scoliosis surgeries, organ transplants, cochlear implants, and vagus nerve stimulation. He urged hospitals to submit lists of the types of procedures they can perform and their capacities to enable the setting of appropriate financial ceilings for the 2027 budget, while also considering procedures that could be carried out until the end of the year based on remaining funds from the 2026 budget. He also emphasized the importance of transparent cooperation with the ministry, especially given the increasing number of uninsured citizens. Currently, he is working with the Private Hospitals Syndicate to review new pricing for treatment and associated costs.
