Washington aims to gradually expand pilot zones
The article discusses the efforts of the United States in the context of negotiations between Lebanon and Israel. Washington prefers to gradually expand experimental zones after successfully establishing a verification model that allows monitoring the implementation of commitments. The focus is on setting field standards for the performance of the Lebanese army and the steps for its deployment. The negotiations also involve attempting to link each Lebanese step to an Israeli counterpart, with clear conditions to verify progress. Additionally, the article explains that Israel rejected Lebanon's demands for a ceasefire and a move toward withdrawal and the expansion of zones, instead demanding proof of the army’s successful deployment on the ground.
