China Claims US Warship Violated Waters
A U.S. warship entered the Sabina Reefs near the Spratly Islands in the South China Sea without China's permission, prompting Chinese forces to deploy and demand that the American side immediately cease these activities. The Sabina Reefs are considered a disputed area between China and the Philippines, with the latter claiming it falls within its exclusive economic zone. China responded to the American movements by condemning them as a violation of its sovereign rights and a threat to maritime security, and the Chinese military deployed troops to monitor the U.S.S. Charleston. This incident comes amid escalating tensions between China and the Philippines in the South China Sea, where both nations are vying for sovereignty over the region, and diplomatic rhetoric and escalation have recently increased between the two sides.
