Lebanon Electricity: Citizen Rights and Reform Challenges
The article addresses the electricity crisis in Lebanon, which is one of the major challenges faced by Lebanese citizens, where they pay the price of rising costs for a basic service essential for life and work. The article stresses that solutions are not limited to external aid, such as the Gulf initiative, but require comprehensive and fundamental reforms covering administration, finances, and governance to ensure the sustainability of the sector and to provide a stable service at an affordable cost to the citizens. It emphasizes the importance of government responsibility in implementing these reforms and highlights that external support is an opportunity to build an effective and sustainable electricity sector, provided there is genuine political will and transparent management. Ultimately, success depends on Lebanon's ability to translate aid into tangible results that improve citizens' lives and restore confidence in state institutions.
