Wedding celebration marred by fake officiant
A wedding celebration in Egypt turned into a scandal after the reveal of a fake individual claiming to be a religious officiant. He appeared to guide the bride and groom and encouraged inappropriate behavior during the marriage ceremony. It was found that this person was not a certified officiant, and his role was limited to announcing the marriage only, while an official licensed officiant is responsible for legally certifying the contract. Egyptian authorities emphasized the need to verify the officiant's identity through their ID card or Karkeen, and Al-Azhar Center warned against actions that undermine the dignity of the wedding ceremony, confirming that proper legal documentation is the foundation of a valid marriage.
