Service withdrawal causes confusion for country
Lebanese Forces ministers abstained from attending the Cabinet session in protest over the failure to refer the Beqaa Valey explosives case to the Judicial Council, despite the seriousness of the matter and the need for exceptional handling. The council decided to continue investigating before making any referral decisions, even though the Forces had demanded a quick referral after three weeks had passed. This objection is part of a recurring pattern of the Forces’ absence from institutional proceedings, coinciding with Energy Minister’s boycott of sessions in protest against the way the electricity crisis is being handled. Such actions weaken the government's cohesion and impact the image of Lebanese authority both internally and externally, amidst ongoing Arab and international support for the state’s sovereignty and authority in Lebanon.
