Palestinian Camps and Sovereignty Expansion
The article discussed Lebanon's efforts to establish the sovereignty of the state over Palestinian camps, including disarming militants, strengthening governance, and managing internal affairs, with the goal of maintaining security and stability. Officials indicated that 80% of the weapons belonging to Palestinian factions affiliated with the Palestine Liberation Organization have been handed over, with the ongoing implementation of a plan to restrict weapons to the state in accordance with laws and agreements, despite this process being affected by negotiations in Gaza. The discussion also covered the need to address the phenomena of drug proliferation and illegal weapons, with a national plan for camp governance based on consultation with all parties to ensure the protection of Palestinian rights, and the importance of coordination with international and security institutions. The stance emphasizes that strengthening the state's presence does not threaten the right of return but aims to organize internal affairs and achieve security, while international support for Palestinian refugees' rights continues.
