Energy Ministry Confirms Lebanese-Qatari Talks Proceeding
The Ministry of Energy and Water affirmed that the meetings between the Lebanese team and the Qatari team have been ongoing intensively for more than two weeks in Beirut. The upcoming meetings will be held in Doha, although Lebanon has not yet received an official invitation to visit Qatar. The ministry also clarified that any unconfirmed information about this matter, especially those propagated by hostile media outlets, is not accurate. The decision to pursue investment cooperation with Qatar in the energy sector is still under review and will be presented to the Council of Ministers once an agreement in principle is reached. The Lebanese government is moving toward signing agreements with Qatar to strengthen the electricity sector after years of failures, amid a loss of confidence from some parties. Meanwhile, the ministry affirms that efforts are progressing positively toward achieving stability in energy.
