Turkish Soldier Dies at Border
Turkey’s Ministry of Defense announced that soldier Yusuf Sait Onlu had died from a gunshot wound while attempting to stop an illegal crossing on the country’s eastern border with Iran. He was taken to Hakkari State Hospital, but efforts to save him were unsuccessful. The ministry did not disclose the shooter’s identity. The incident comes as Turkey tightens its security measures, including the construction of a 380-kilometer border wall.
