Evacuations began on Friday for residents stranded in the Russian-controlled Ukrainian city of Oleshky, as part of a U.S.-mediated ceasefire agreement. Some were flown by three helicopters to Gomel airport in Belarus, while 527 people are expected to travel to areas controlled by Kyiv and an unspecified number to Russia. It was also announced that humanitarian aid would be distributed during the evacuations.
