Tensions flared around the Minieh Serail in northern Lebanon, and the road was blocked in both directions after residents gathered to protest the detention of a father and his children and demand their release. The detentions followed an altercation with a member of the Internal Security Forces after a young man and a woman fell off a motorcycle at a security checkpoint, leaving the woman with a head injury. Protesters entered the Serail’s courtyard and tried to storm the building, while the Minieh police unit asked for 10 minutes to complete its investigation.
