Iranian television broadcast guidance for citizens in the event of a nuclear strike: avoid looking at the flash, take cover behind a barrier and lie down with your head and face covered, then enter the nearest building after the blast wave passes and stay away from windows and exterior walls. The guidance also advised washing exposed skin with soap and water, using bottled water and packaged food, staying in a shelter for at least 24 hours, and following emergency announcements rather than assuming the area was safe afterward. The warning came amid reports of a possible U.S. strike on Iran, while Iran’s foreign minister said negotiations were ongoing but no final agreement had been reached.
