Iran Enters Talks Warily
The United States has agreed to Qatar’s mediation proposal to resume understandings with Iran. Mediators are awaiting responses from Tehran and Washington within 36 hours, after both sides received and reviewed the proposal. Tehran is standing by its seven conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz and says nuclear negotiations cannot begin until its demands are met. Iranian officials have said they would approach any negotiating process with pessimism and caution, citing what they described as past US violations. Qatar’s efforts to bridge differences continue amid fears of renewed escalation, with Iran’s conditions and US demands remaining the main obstacles to reaching an understanding.
