While the Lebanese Army was carrying out measures to prevent smuggling in the Arsal highlands along the Syrian border, a vehicle with no license plates coming from Syria drove past a checkpoint. Its driver tried to run over the soldiers, who fired warning shots before he fled. Inside the vehicle, they found 12 Syrians being smuggled into Lebanon. A woman was hit by gunfire and died, while three others were injured by flying glass. The judiciary opened an investigation, and the search for the driver continued.
