The Lebanese army announced that a vehicle with no license plates crossed a checkpoint in the rugged outskirts of Arsal, coming from Syria through an illegal crossing. Its driver tried to run over the soldiers, who fired warning shots before he fled. Twelve Syrians being smuggled into Lebanon were found inside the vehicle. A woman was shot and later died, while three others were injured by flying glass. An investigation has been opened, and the search for the driver is ongoing.
