An altercation broke out on the highway in the town of Wadi al-Jamous in Akkar after masked men stopped a minibus driver over a sign reading “Akkar – al-Qammoua.” They smashed the vehicle and beat him, while shots were fired into the air amid tensions between people from Akkar al-Atiqah and Fnaydeq. A large army force intervened and set up a security cordon, as tensions escalated over a territorial dispute between residents of the two towns.
