Venezuela hit by severe natural disaster

An earthquake measuring 7.5 magnitude struck the city of La Guaira in Venezuela, resulting in around 2,954 deaths, over 16,000 injuries, and the destruction of more than 856 buildings, which displaced more than 16,000 people. Rescue operations continue despite decreasing chances of finding survivors, amid weak equipment and infrastructure deficiencies, with estimates suggesting the number of missing persons could reach 50,000. In a humanitarian gesture, star Cristiano Ronaldo responded to a Venezuelan child who lost his family in the disaster, sending him a video message and an invitation to attend a match.
