Israel explores extending military service

Reports indicate that the Israeli army is facing a severe shortage of soldiers, prompting it to issue immediate recall orders for reservists and potentially extend mandatory service by an additional two months. These measures come amid a reduction in service duration to 30 months starting in January and increased pressure on reserve soldiers, amidst ongoing military operations in Gaza that have resulted in the deaths of five Palestinians and injuries to others, as well as the destruction of buildings and the broad deployment of demolitions in the sector.
