NYC mayor faces critique over wife's trip

Rama Duwaji, wife of New York City Mayor Zahran Mamdani, headed to the Spanish island of Mallorca to participate in an Islamic retreat focused on spiritual well-being during the celebrations of the 250th anniversary of the United States' independence. The engagements include retreats in Mallorca and Corsica, France. Her absence from the “America 250” events has sparked criticism, while her office defended her, citing the lack of police protection. Previously, Duwaji deleted her social media accounts after posts were deemed offensive, before apologizing for them.
