Syria's interim People's Assembly session postponed

Syrian authorities postponed the first session of the transitional People's Council from Monday to a later date to be announced, without providing reasons for the delay. The council was scheduled to hold its session after its formation was completed, which included the appointment of 70 members by presidential decree, excluding areas controlled by Kurdish forces and regions with a Druze majority from representation. This move comes as part of the Syrian government’s management of the transitional phase following the initiation of measures aimed at unifying authority and rebuilding institutions, within a broader process announced since December 2024.
