First Close-Up Image of Earth's Rare "Little Moon" Released
The Chinese probe "Tianwen-2" has sent the first close-up image of the asteroid (2016 HO3), known as "Kamo Oliu" or "Little Moon." This rare celestial body approaches Earth every 45 years. The mission's goal is to collect samples from the asteroid to study its composition, the presence of water, and the effects of solar wind, in order to understand whether "Kamo Oliu" is part of the true Moon. After a journey of 13 months and traveling a billion kilometers, the probe positioned itself 20 kilometers from the asteroid to capture the historic image.
