Libya and Syria seek to boost energy and agriculture cooperation
The head of the Libyan mission in Syria, Walid Hassan Ammar, discussed with Syrian official Muhammad Taha Al-Ahmad ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the energy and agriculture sectors, and to activate the work of the Libyan-Syrian Higher Joint Committee to support economic and developmental relations. In another development, the Libyan Union Sports Club’s basketball team participated in the 2026 Beirut Damascus International Tournament, marking their return to the local scene after a 19-year absence. They achieved victory in their first game against the Syrian Olympic team with a score of 103-52. They continue competing in the tournament, which runs until October 16, featuring multiple Arab clubs. This reflects Libya's keenness to enhance diplomatic and sports cooperation with Syria.
