Europe recorded 12 bomb alerts aboard passenger planes on Thursday, prompting emergency landings or diversions of about nine flights in France, Bulgaria, Belgium, the Czech Republic and other countries. The incidents included an Aer Lingus flight from Dublin to Rome being diverted to a French military base and three planes landing in Bulgaria, while Czech police dealt with threats targeting four planes bound for Prague. The alerts followed similar threats on Tuesday that affected at least seven flights and a cruise ship. The results of investigations into Thursday’s reports were not yet known.
