A research team discovered a carved game board in an ancient public bathhouse in the city of Volubilis, dating back to the 8th or 9th century AD. The board consists of rows of holes, which may have been used for social gaming, indicating recreational activities took place within public spaces at that time. The research suggests that the board might be connected to an ancient strategic game known as "Tab" or "Sigh," and it could represent one of the earliest evidences of these games being played in North Africa. This discovery reflects extensive cultural connections between Morocco and other regions of the Islamic world through the exchange of customs and traditions.
