Washington and Tehran to meet in Switzerland
A memorandum of understanding was signed between the United States and Iran in the presence of U.S. President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Beshzkiyan. They exchanged signatures at the Palace of Versailles in France during a dinner hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron. This agreement reflects both parties' desire to resolve differences through dialogue. It includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz to navigation and removing sanctions from Iranian ports. It is expected to come into effect within the next few hours. An initial meeting is also anticipated to be held at the Bürgenstock resort in Geneva between the two sides, with Pakistan and Qatar acting as mediators to discuss the implementation of the agreement on the ground.
