Moroccan Sardines Tested Virus-Free
The Moroccan State Secretariat responsible for Fisheries, in coordination with the National Institute for Marine Research, confirmed that the sardine die-off phenomenon in South Africa due to the "Herpes" (PHV) virus does not affect sardines in Moroccan waters, as they are associated with a different type of ecosystem. They indicated that the recorded die-offs in South Africa occur in a completely different environment from those on the Moroccan coast, meaning the environmental conditions and the viruses involved differ between the two cases.
