Syria to aid Saudi in Houthi conflict
Reports have confirmed that Syria is considering providing military support to Saudi Arabia amid the escalating war against the Houthis in Yemen. Possible means include offering defensive support to protect Saudi Arabia or deploying troops to support Yemeni forces allied with Riyadh, while Syrian officials have denied any official request from Saudi Arabia to send troops. Syria has expressed its support for Saudi Arabia against Houthi attacks but is currently focused on recovering from its civil war, with any military assistance likely to be provided only through official channels. The decision to engage militarily remains tied to internal and regional balances, with an effort to avoid sectarian escalation and tensions with Iran and its regional allies.
