The regional gendarmerie, with the assistance of local authorities, successfully carried out a broad security campaign to combat illegal migration in the Al-Ayoun area. The operations resulted in the thwarting of seven attempted illegal crossings and the arrest of over 200 suspects, most of whom are Moroccan nationals. Additionally, boats, engines, and tools used in organized crime were confiscated. There were also intense clashes with irregular migrants, one of whom was seriously injured. These incidents follow a series of deadly events over the past month amid confrontations with security forces. Investigations are ongoing to identify new networks involved in organizing illegal migration activities.
