The Spanish Supreme Court upheld a 20-month prison sentence for a soldier who was performing his duties in Melilla, after he left the city and stayed in Morocco during his sick leave without prior approval from military authorities. The soldier faced criticism for cutting off communication and failing to submit the required medical reports; it was also discovered that he was residing in Nador and traveled to Germany during his leave, which contradicts his claim that health issues prevented him from returning to Melilla. The court ruled that his unauthorized absence and neglect of communication constituted a serious violation of military regulations, and it confirmed the judgment against him, emphasizing that health conditions do not exempt him from following military instructions.
