The European Commission has proposed a new system for deporting migrants outside the Union's borders through the establishment of re-entry centers outside the EU. The aim is to improve the enforcement rate of deportation orders and to reduce the number of irregular migrants. The agreement allows member states to create re-entry centers in cooperation with third countries to host migrants who have been issued departure orders, while also expanding the authorities' powers to monitor migrants and increasing detention periods. This proposal has drawn criticism from human rights organizations concerning the expansion of detention powers and legal procedures. It is expected to come into effect after approval by the European Parliament and the member states.
