The appellate Chamber of Financial Crimes at the Fès Court of Appeal upheld most of the rulings issued in the case of embezzlement and misappropriation of public funds amounting to approximately 6.1 billion centimes at the Oriental Urban Development Company. The judgment sentenced its former director, Zakaria Lazrq, to eight years in prison and a fine of 100,000 dirhams. Several other individuals and involved parties were also convicted, receiving sentences ranging from one to three years along with financial fines, in connection with charges of embezzlement, abuse of power, and personal gain. The case dates back to internal reports that uncovered serious irregularities leading to significant financial losses and delays in implementing development projects in the eastern region.
