Young man detained for mosque attack
The Royal Gendarmerie personnel in the Shouiter center managed to arrest a 24-year-old young man after he attempted to attack a mosque imam in the Sidi Abdellah Ghyat community with a bladed weapon. The suspect entered the mosque during dawn prayer, and his suspicious movements drew the imam’s attention, who then alerted the worshippers and authorities. He was searched and found to be holding a large knife, and an investigation was conducted to determine his motives and to assess his mental state or whether the act was premeditated.
