Iran questions US visa denial for World Cup delegation
Tehran criticized the continued selective treatment by the United States toward members of the Iranian delegation, as several administrative and technical staff members were not granted visas to attend the World Cup, despite Iranian players being issued visas to participate in the tournament. The Iranian embassy in Turkey confirmed that delays and refusals in issuing visas are hindering the team's full participation. Meanwhile, the United States stated that the Iranian team was granted visas to enter the U.S. to attend three matches in the 2026 World Cup, emphasizing their vigilance to prevent terrorists from infiltrating under the guise of sporting representation.
