Digital attire for upcoming saints
The article discusses the phenomenon of "virtual canonization" of new sanctifiers in the public sphere, where expressions of solidarity and reverence toward certain symbols and issues grow unofficially, creating a symbolic immunity that prevents critique and accountability. The text focuses on how digital and media movements are used to construct sacred narratives promoting specific individuals or causes, while others are marginalized due to the lack of the same symbolic capital. It warns that this phenomenon transforms human rights solidarity into a political tool that differentiates victims based on criteria, and constructs alternative sanctities outside the legal framework, thereby threatening open debate and democracy.
