Fnideq heat prompts youth swim alert
Fhidiq's area has witnessed the beginning of a hot summer season in 2026, as attempts by minor migrants to cross the sea illegally to reach the occupied city of Ceuta are increasing. Local and Spanish sources confirmed that around 40 Moroccan minors have managed to reach Ceuta by swimming since the end of last week, amid intense interventions by rescue teams and the Spanish Civil Guard to save those facing difficulties during the crossing. This escalation comes amid heightened security measures at the border strip to prevent infiltration attempts.
