FIFA updates rules after Hakimi restriction
FIFA, the International Federation of Football Associations, announced an amendment to the press conference rules for the 2026 World Cup, allowing the use of the Spanish language for all journalists and players during media briefings. This comes after widespread criticism of the previous ban on its use. The decision follows a controversy regarding the limited translation options, as similar situations involving players such as Achraf Hakimi and Vinícius Júnior occurred during the briefings. FIFA clarified that Spanish has now become an official translation option starting from the end of this week to facilitate communication during the tournament, which will be held in Mexico and the United States.
