Zahlé Port Sees Cargo and Vessel Growth
Sohar Port in the North Al Batinah Governorate experienced significant growth during the first half of 2026 in cargo and vessel handling activities. The total volume of cargo handled increased by 38.6%, reaching 560,600 tons compared to 404,600 tons in the same period of 2025. The port also welcomed 590 ships, up from 437 ships in 2025, a growth of 35%. Additionally, the port saw an increase in dry bulk cargo handling by 24.8%, amounting to 267,200 thousand tons, and a 77.6% rise in the volume of foodstuffs, vegetables, fruits, and meats, totaling 96,600 tons. The port also received 68,700 head of livestock, whereas no shipments of this kind were received last year. Plans are underway to expand the port’s services and complete a four-phase expansion project aimed at enhancing its capabilities and supporting trade and logistical activities.
