Son of captive doctor Abu Safiya recounts his father’s suffering and plight of thousands of prisoners in occupation prisons

Ilyas Abu Safiya confirmed that his father, the Palestinian prisoner and doctor Hossam Abu Safiya, is subjected to systematic torture inside Israeli prisons. His health has severely deteriorated after more than 560 days of detention without formal trial or direct communication with his family. His father has suffered brutal physical assaults, including being beaten with an iron hammer, and is dealing with skin diseases and injuries from being restrained. There has been direct targeting of his family, and more than 16 Palestinian doctors and other nurses have also been imprisoned. Abu Safiya calls on the international community and human rights organizations to urgently intervene to save his father's life.
