Al-Ka'abna Displacement Amid Settlement Plans

The article addresses the hardships faced by the Ataymin family from the Arab Ka'abna tribe, a Palestinian clan. They were forced to flee their lands in the M'aerijat area near Jericho following settler attacks at the start of the 2023 war. They endured displacement from their land and having their livestock stolen in repeated assaults. Despite efforts to purchase private land for stability, settlement activities and settler assaults increased—including property destruction, looting, and killings—destroying their means of livelihood and worsening their suffering. Additionally, the occupation's policies aim to confiscate land, establish settler outposts, and systematically demolish their homes and facilities, threatening their very existence and stripping them of their fundamental rights. The article highlights how these policies are part of a broader geopolitical strategy to tighten control over Palestinian territories, especially Area C, while local and international human rights organizations fall short in providing genuine protection. This failure deepens the plight of the indigenous population and threatens to dismantle their traditional nomadic lifestyle.
